Call of Duty Black Ops III Released

Activision and Treyarch released the next chapter in their well known ego-shooter franchise, Call of Duty Black Ops 3. With this they also revealed a ton of details.

.

CAMPAIGN

.

According to them, “the Black Ops III campaign has been designed from the ground up on next gen systems to be played with up to four-players, co-operatively online, with players encountering the epic cinematic moments Call of Duty is known for. New open-area engagements designed for re-playability allow players to approach the game with a different strategy each time they play. Every player is customizable: from weapons and loadouts, to abilities and outfits, with full progression systems and a personalized armory to show off accomplishments, providing a constantly evolving campaign experience. (Campaign mode available on PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms only)

.

.

Key Campaign Additions Include:

.

Spatial Design and Larger Environments have been created to utilize Treyarch’s new rendering, AI, and animation technologies, leveraging the more powerful hardware platforms, providing players with the ability to “go off the rails” and engage enemies in a manner of their choosing in open-area gameplay. Players will enjoy added re-playability, allowing players to engage battles differently each time.

.

Cyber Cores and Tactical Rigs are cybernetic modifications that allow an added degree of gameplay customization. Cyber Cores provide a variety of skills from remote hacking and controlling drones, to chain melee strikes. Tactical Rigs are upgrades to the soldiers that allow them to use advanced movement and defensive capabilities. All of these options allow individual players or teams to construct a variety of differently configured soldiers to tackle engagements in a variety of ways.

.

The Safe House is the area players visit between campaign levels to customize their weapons and loadouts, show off their medals and achievements, or access the game’s Personal Data Vault (PDV) to gain further information on the world and backstory.

.

MULTIPLAYER

.

ALL-NEW MOVEMENT SYSTEM

.

Black Ops III features a new momentum-based, precision-focused, chained-movement system, allowing players to fluidly move through the environment with finesse, using controlled thrust jumps, power slides, and fast mantling capabilities in a multitude of combinations. With the guns up philosophy, players maintain full control of their weapon at all times and have 360-degrees of motion through all maneuvers. Maps are designed from the ground-up for the new movement system, giving players a feeling of power over how they use the environment for advanced tactics, while at the same time pushing strong head-to-head engagements for classic Black Ops boots-on-the-ground action.

.

ALL-NEW SPECIALIST SYSTEM

.

Treyarch has introduced nine elite Specialists to choose from in multiplayer – each with their own look, personality, voice and battle-hardened weapons and abilities. The nine Specialists have their own challenge-based unlock progression system, offering a new way to level up alongside global XP and weapons XP. The Specialists system changes the way players engage in combat at key points throughout a match, as each weapon and ability is designed to make the Specialist a unique force on the field. When using Specialists, players will unlock cosmetic personalization items, further adding to the ability to customize each experience.

GAME MODES

Additionally, perennial favorite modes Search and Destroy, Capture the Flag and Hardpoint are set to make their return as part of the Black Ops III multiplayer mix.

.

Safeguard makes its debut in Black Ops III – this is a new attack/defend game mode where the attacking team has to escort a robot drone into the enemy team’s base. The robot moves only when a player is standing next to it. The defending team can disable the robot by damaging it, and the attacking team must wait for it to reboot to start moving again. Teams alternate attacking and defending, once each, and the winning team must win both rounds to win the match. If both teams win a round, it goes into overtime with another 2 rounds each. If both teams win again, the team with the fastest time of the two rounds wins.

.

Players can customize the Custom Games experience more than ever before. This is also where gamers can add bots to the game.

.

Another new addition to Call of Duty, Freerun makes its debut, challenging players to master the new movement system for time on the leaderboards, to compete with friends or all players across the globe.

eSports

.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III has been designed from the ground up with a full suite of eSports features and modes to showcase the highest level of competitive Call of Duty play. (eSports features available on PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms only)

.

Key eSports additions include:

.

  • Arena is the Black Ops III system for ranked competitive play, where consecutive wins earn players into progressively higher ranks up to the elite Masters Division.
  • Specialists introduce a new dynamic to multiplayer with powerful weapons and abilities that can be earned over the course of a match. The Specialist Draft is a pre-match selection process, designed for Arenas and tournaments, in which each team is allowed no more than one of each Specialist weapon or ability, encouraging teams to plan each player’s role strategically for the mode of play.
  • The new Bans and Protects system creates a meta-game around selection of content. With this system, each player gets one (or multiple) votes that they can use to either ban or protect a specific piece of content from Create-a-Class, Scorestreaks or Specialists. This adds a new layer of strategy to competition, while supporting the empowerment of competitive organizations and individuals to restrict content based on their own tournament guidelines.
  • Black Ops III brings big changes to the CODcaster Mode for commentators and viewers. Casters can specify which settings they want to use when the game starts in the pre-game lobby and change the settings in-game as well. Also for casters, the new Quick Settings menu grants access to the most commonly used caster tools on the fly, allowing for speedy changes to be made right in the middle of the action.
  • For spectators, watching competitive Call of Duty is about the teams. Casters can now specify team names and primary team colors – overriding the default, in-game faction names. Additionally, the loadout widget has been overhauled to allow casters to visually illustrate details about specific players’ loadouts and equipment configurations. Black Ops III also supports recent innovations in Call of Duty such as full-screen view and X-Ray mode.

.

Technology Innovations for PS4, Xbox One and PC

.

Visual Fidelity

.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops III is powered by a brand-new rendering engine, using modern deferred lighting and physically based rendering technology to allow players to explore environments of the highest visual quality. New features such as fully lit particle effects, interactive water, dynamically lit fog, and order-independent transparency add extra touches of realism to the field of battle.

.

AI

.

To fill the battlefield with more variety than ever before, Call of Duty: Black Ops III employs a new archetype-based AI system. Designers can now easily create new AI behaviors, resulting in many compelling types of robot and human combatants for players to fight with and against. New animations have been created to support these behaviors, allowing each AI to adapt to every encounter in thousands of different ways.

.

Audio

.

The environmental audio system in Call of Duty: Black Ops III has been completely revamped to give additional depth to the larger and more detailed environments. A completely new reflection and reverberation simulator gives a more cohesive and realistic feel to the soundscape. Using a brand new advanced dynamic beat-matching music system, the game can seamlessly transition between any ingame music depending on gameplay and player actions.
