What is Hover Cubes Arena?

Hover Cubes X, or Hover Cubes Arena is a competitive first person multiplayer jump’n’run. This game is developed by a small indie team called Gametology and will be published by Deck 13.

.

In this game, players have to “use their skills to perform wall-jumps or double-jumps.” The goal, be the first at the end of the level. While you running through the levels players can “use the hovering cubes with their different abilities and combinations as you make your way through fast paced levels, overcome abysses and avoid dangerous traps.” It is also possible to “block the enemies ways with activated barricades.” The developers would like, that players “participate in globally broadcasted tournaments by their own or in a team.”

Game’s Features according to the press-release:

.

  • Innovative and dynamic gameplay.
  • The different cubes represent the main gameplay element in HCX. The Hover Cubes have their determined spots in each level and serve as positions other cubes can be placed at and attached to. The other cubes can be placed and collected with the help of devices integrated in the Cube Gloves, which are worn by each participant, to overcome or rush through obstacles with ease.
  • Visible and hidden obstacles await the participants in the old ruins. Buried spear traps in the ground, “bone-crushing” boulders, moving walls and many other ancient obstructions and contraptions can be found in each level. Additionally there are also new and highly modern traps giving the competitors a hard time and ensuring the tournaments stay exciting.
  • To enable the players to move through the levels in the most acrobatic and reckless way possible, each player has the ability to perform a Double-Jump or to push him- or herself off the wall in appropriate places. This Wall-Jump can also be very useful to react to possible interventions from opponents. Other Parkour elements and moves such as holding onto and moving along an edge or other protrusion, as well as sliding across the ground at a high velocity are also possible.
