The upcoming expansion to World of Warcraft: Legion this August will bring changes to many fields. Modifications will occur in crafting professions as well – they will be somewhat recreated.

Most of all, players will not gain the immediate ability to craft various items – they will now need to acquire a recipe in order to create them. Each profession will receive a chain of quests assigned by the master of a particular crafting profession. Only after completing these quests, characters will receive recipes to craft new gear. Receiving recipes is not enough though – each of them can be levelled up, increasing the durability of the equipment. Until now, three levels of quality have been announced for each recipe.

New material

The next novelty is Obliterum – a completely new crafting material debuting in the Legion expansion. It can be acquired by only one means – melting items in a special forge located in Dalaran. This magical substance can be used to enhance previously crafted gizmos. Thanks to the new mechanics, even items poorly crafted may become useful again. All you will have to do, is simply melt them into obliterum and apply them to enhance gear, rendering it more useful.

There will be a serious change within the art of inscription profession. The division into Major and Minor Glyphs made by these craftsmen as we know it up until now, will disappear. What’s more, the way Glyphs work will also change. Before Legion they were used to modify not only the appearance of spells, but also the way they work. After the Legion expansion premiere, the latter will disappear and inscription masters will only influence simple cosmetic characteristics.

Something new for everyone

Apart from the aforementioned modifications, players can expect a whole lot more new content for the less prominent professions. Fishing in Legion, for example, will be developed to make it a less passive profession. There will be a lot of new stuff to do for WoW archeologists – they will receive an entire chain of quests connected with fumbling in the ruins or other places full of remnants from ancient civilizations. Cooks will also have a lot of work, as Blizzard is preparing new dishes for them to cook.

Players will be able to test out all the novelties of the World of Warcraft professions, for themselves after the premiere of the Legion expansion scheduled for August 30th.
