Soldiers of Fortune! We present to you the first info on the character leveling system of Hired Ops.
.
The players will be able to upgrade their mercenaries, investing skill points and credits in the development, opening up the different skills according to their choice. They will be able to choose their specialization, taking on one of the four upgrade branches -Sniper, Stormtrooper, Scout and Destroyer.
.
By leveling up and receiving 1 skill point for every level gained, they shall invest these points into the character upgrade until it reaches the Super Skill of their specialization. After that, the remaining three branches will be blocked for upgrade, but the selected branch will open the abilities and weapons unique for this specialization. When the character graduates into professional class, his appearance will change as well.
.
Moreover, there are two other auxiliary branches of upgrade – pistols and modifications. You can take them on to augment the main specialization, as well as skills from other specializations, but only up to the Super Skills. Also, the skills can be reset and skill points redistributed at any time between the fights.
.
.
STORMTROOPER
Stormtrooper is the most heavily armored fighter among the Hired Ops characters. He can survive a remarkable number of hits where any other class would instantly be washed into a grave by a lead downpour. Usually he goes ahead of his teammates, covering them with his armor. Advanced Ballistic Protection will safely shelter from explosions, Regeneration will accelerate healing of wounds and health recovery in combat, and Heavy Armor will face a greater number of hits without harm to its owner, but at expense of mobility.
.
.
DESTROYER
Destroyer is a master of dealing damage with heavy weapons – machineguns and shotguns. He’s not too nimble, but capable of unleashing a concentrated barrage of fire in his sector and toppling it with precise throw of a grenade. The Firing Stabilization skill allows him to shoot long bursts, controlling the scattering of hits, and Augmented Grenade increases the damage dealt by explosion and the distance of the throw, as well as casualty radius.
.
.
SCOUT
Scout is a mobile fighter favoring light and compact weapons. He quickly moves across the map, highlighting objective for his allies using a scanner or binoculars. His skills are aimed at excelling in this. For instance, Silent Step allows scout to move almost noiselessly, Upgraded Sonar detects enemies with greater effectiveness and Suppressor Alignment will grant the means of shooting silenced pistols and SMGs without drop in efficiency.
.
.
SNIPER
Sniper is a master of long distance shooting, and the bonuses available to him facilitate the successful completion of his tasks. For example, the Anti-Reflection Coating skill reduces the probability of sniper getting detected by the glare of optic sight, and Aiming Concentration will increase the accuracy of the hits. Also, a sniper will get to wear a ghillie suit.
