Not long ago we already told you, that we could take a look at the new Plantronics’ products at this years’ gamescom. One of the new headsets is the RIG 300. You can get this headset already for a price of 39,99 EURO. This is one of the cheapest gaming-headsets they ever have released. But is this one built in the same high quality we know from other Plantronics’ headsets we have tested before. Let’s find out.

In the past Plantronics has released a lot of different High-End-Headsets and even one that can be used together with the PSVR-Headset at the same time. This one is another entry-model, but much more cheaper. According to the developer, the reason for that is, that is has been specifically designed with new gamers and their parents in mind. They want that young gamers buy their first high quality headset and than grow together with the company. This in not a bad marketing idea and we think that not only this young gamers, but also their parents and even older users will like it.

The reason for the new SoundGuard acoustic safety technology that promises to protect gamers’ hearing against unexpected audio spikes and maximum DB levels, is the following: “Plantronics is an active participant in acoustic health initiatives and it is great to introduce this technology to our new gaming headset, to protect the hearing of our next generation of gamers.” And this is true. I, as a father of two young boys, is this a fact that is very important to me. We tried to put the volume as loud as possible, but the implemented technology did not allowed to get as loud as we wanted to. We noticed also, that the maximum volume is enough to hear what you like too. The audio protection system does not allow to a higher dBA than 118. It is also great, because young owners can use this headset also in the street. Next thing we had in mind is, that you can hear danger like car, too, which helps to protect yourself by not only be distracted from the music or other things you watch/hear.

Great is, the RIG 300 Series is available to use it for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Windows 10. We noticed very quickly, that we have once again a high quality headset in our hands. As known from other Plantronic headsets, it is build modulary so that you you can connect the earcups with the frame. We have tested a headset that is built to withstand high load capacity. It can happen that it falls down more that once especially if you keep young gamers in mind. The frame is flexible and also very comfortable, because of the upholstery at the same time. The flexibility comes from the zig-zag-design. Like known from other Plantronic headset, you can change parts if something is broken. The sound coming out of the 40mm drivers is also great. We said it a lot of times: We know the high quality and that Plantronics do a great job. This is the reason we do not get much more in details. The weight is great, it is comfortable, sound, mic quality, etc. are fantastic. We like the whole headset with it’s features very much especially because of the low price. The RIG 300 we tested was the one for the PC. You can connect the headset about the 3.5 mm jack. The cable is 1,3 m long and has a simple inline control panel. With this you can control the volume and mute the inline. We wished the cable would be a little bit longer especially because many people putting their PCs on the floor. We wished, it would be possible to remove the mic know from other Plantronic headsets in the higher price class. It would looks better than if people using it it outside.

For the great and low peice of 39,99 Euro Plantronics offers a fantastic Stereo-Headset for young gamers that want to buy their first headset. The sounds are great, it is very comfortable and can be used by the 3,5-mm-jack. Like we said before, as parents we like especially the open ear design and the instantaneously protect against unexpected noise spikes and maximum decibel levels. This not only protects the ears of the children, it also protects them from danger by using the headset outside of their room. Well done Plantronics.
