Last week saw the launch of a new Kickstarter campaign from Forge Animation; a French studio working on an ambitious multimedia project.

Titled “Windwalkers“, the scope of Forge’s plans span a videogame, an animated movie and a series of comic books – all of them inspired by a sci-fi novel from author Alain Damasio.

For the game portion of Windwalkers, Forge has been working with CRYENGINE to create a prototype of what they hope will go on to become an action RPG where cooperation plays a key part in survival.

Set in an inhospitable world shaped by perpetual winds, the Windwalkers of the game’s title must battle nature’s fury in a bid to discover the source of this environmental aberration. Of course, beyond the confines of their city, there’s more than a stiff breeze to contend with as they strive to become the first troop of Windwalkers ever to make it to the fabled “Upper Reaches”.
